Hayden had brain surgery April 26th, 2016 to remove a brain tumor. After surgery, she had tons of complications. Within 48 hours, she had gone into cardiac arrest multiple times, was placed on ECMO life support and had a stroke. It was then that we were told she had a rare form of pediatric brain cancer. She has had 33 radiation treatments and is currently undergoing chemotherapy at the University of Iowa hospital. She still has a long list of problems. She doesn’t breath correctly, which requires use of oxygen, she still has not figured out how to walk again, and has some eyesight problems due to the stroke. We are in the thick of getting rid of the cancer and our journey is far from over.
